LISTSERVS

Listservvs lists are discussion groups consisting of people with a common interest, all of whom receive all emails posted to the list.

Here is how it works. You subscribe to the listserv, and the list's sponsor emails you and all other subscribers information on a regular basis. If you have information that you want to distribute to all of the list's subscribers, you can post it to the list's supervisor, who then decides whether to include your information in the next mailing. There are hundreds of listservs that exist specifically to provide job and career information, and many of them are extremely focused or specialized.

But, do not just consider job-related listserbvs lists. Effective networking is always broader than contacting people who currently have openings.

Most listservs spit out lots and lots of messages. This can offer strong career management potential if you select the right lists.
