TPA Gerry: Settle down, settle down, we still have a couple of minutes, I want to hand back your tests before you leave. Sebastian? Sebastian: Here Gerry: Yvonne? Yvonne: Here… [groans] Sebastian: Didn't do so well, huh? Yvonne: Not at all, this is the second test and I did worse than the first time. I don't know what I'm going to do! I need to pass this class Sebastian: go see a Learning Specialist to do a TPA Yvonne: see who about what? Sebastian: a Learning Specialist to do a TPA. Yvonne: What's a learning specialist? Sebastian: They're tutors who help you understand why you made mistakes on your test Yvonne: you mean, like a math or English tutor— Sebastian: Kinda, except they specialize Yvonne: Specialize in what? Sebastian: Test Performance Analysis Yvonne: huh? Sebastian: They teach you how to read test questions better. Yvonne: I know how to read. Sebastian [chuckles] no, I don't mean that, I mean they teach you how to read test questions carefully, and understand what they really mean so you have a better chance of getting them right! Yvonne: Hmm… Sebastian: once you understand what a test question is really asking, then you can answer it correctly. Yvonne: that makes sense. Sebastian: Yeah, but that's not all Yvonne: it's not Sebastian: Yeah, they help you understand how to avoid mistakes, they also show you how to take notes so you don't have to write down every word a professor is saying Yvonne: No kidding! Sebastian: Look- Yvonne: So you've been to see them huh? Sebastian: Yup, they've helped me a lot, now I use TPA techniques in all my classes, not just this one Yvonne: How are you doing in them? Sebastian: Much better, I went from Ds and Cs to Bs and As. Yvonne: really? Sebastian: yeah, if you want I can walk down to the Learning Center with you and introduce you. Yvonne: Okay Sebastian: Let's go!
