Welcome to my Oakton home page. I joined Oakton Community College in 1995 as an adjunct faculty member. I was hired for a full-time position in 1996 and have taught a variety of biology courses, including general biology (both 101 and 121), microbiology, human genetics, interdisciplinary undergraduate laboratory research and nutrition. I received my Bachelor of Science in Biology from George Mason University and my Ph.D. in Medical Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Florida. I was then a postdoctoral fellow at Northwestern University for four years studying RNA virus replication. I love biology and have participated in both frog and butterfly monitoring in Illinois, and have a menagerie of animals at home. I love gardening, hiking, traveling and pretty much anything that gets me outside!
