Mrs.
Singh began her academic career as an undergraduate at the University
of Missouri-Columbia where she completed her degrees in Journalism
and Philosophy. She has since worked in television as a writer and
producer and received an Emmy Nomination for her weekly series Educate!
which aired locally on WYCC-TV Chicago. She continues to work as
an independent producer. One of her current projects includes a
documentary on India.
While
she is committed to her pursuits in television production she remains
an avid humanist. Her initial interests in philosophy later manifested
in her continued desire to pursue her Masters degrees from the University
of Chicago. She holds a Masters in Liberal Arts and a Masters in
Divinity with a concentration in the history of religions.
In the
midst of her academic pursuits she has also found it important to
spend time doing human development work in Punjab, one of India’s
northern most states. She spent two years living and working in
the region helping in the area of children’s education, medical
camps and media workshops.
She
is an avid writer and reader. She is currently writing a collection
of short essays based on her experiences in Punjab.
