Jay Cohen, CPA
The course starts on Tuesday, January 16. To help you get a head start, I will open the class in D2L on Wednesday, January 10. The assignments will always open several weeks in advance so students are free to work ahead. You can find D2L by going through My Oakton or by going to d2l.oakton.edu.
Each week, there will be deadlines for online homework and quizzes. There are many videos and other online tools to assist you as you learn. I am hopeful that you will find these tools very helpful.
There is only one on-campus exam for ACC 250 and this will be taken at he end of the semester. The Testing Center is open:
Monday to Thursday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
If you do not live in the area, you can arrange to take the exams at a Testing Center at a college or university near you. If this impacts you, see Outside Proctoring Requirements for more information.
The paper book that you need to purchase is QuickBooks Online by Gayle Williams. This is available at the Oakton bookstore for $103. If you purchase this book elsewhere, make sure that it includes an access code to MyBusinessCourse where we will do some of the homework. In addition to the QuickBooks chapters, MyBusinessCourse also includes 4 chapters of financial accounting. The publisher will be charging an extra $15 for these financial accounting chapters. That will happen when you register the access code that comes with the textbook. Students can begin the semester by using the 14-day free trial option within MyBusinessCourse.
Welcome Letter and Syllabus:
The welcome letter and syllabus are available. If you have any immediate questions, please feel free to contact me.
It is best to contact me at email@example.com rather than using the D2L e-mail. This makes it much easier to respond to you regardless of which device I am using.
