Information for Fall 2017 ACC 154 Online Students:

Start Date:
The 14-week course starts on Tuesday, September 5 and it will move at an accelerated pace. To help you get a head start, I will open the class in D2L on Monday, August 28. You can find D2L by going through My Oakton or by going to d2l.oakton.edu.

Weekly Homework:
Each week, there will be deadlines for online homework and quizzes. There are many online tools to assist you as you learn how to do the homework problems and quizzes. I am hopeful that you will find these tools very helpful.

On-campus exams:
There are three exams for ACC 154 that need to be taken on campus. For each exam, you will have a one week window where you can get to either campus at a time that is convenient for you. The Testing Centers are open:
     Monday to Thursday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
     Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
     Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

If you do not live in the area, you can arrange to take the exams at a Testing Center at a college or university near you. If this impacts you, see Outside Proctoring Requirements for more information.

We will be using Managerial Accounting 5th edition by Karen Braun and Wendy Tietz, along with MyAccountingLab, an online learning system. We have arranged special pricing with Pearson so that you can purchase the textbook and access code for $119 at the Oakton bookstore. This is includes full access to MyAccountingLab. It would cost the same price to purchase the access directly from Pearson, but if you do it that way, your eText will expire in May.

The bundle at the Oakton bookstore includes a paper book and an eText, so you get to keep the paper book after the ebook expires. If you try to shop online, make sure your book includes an access code for MyAccountingLab. I think you will find it difficult to beat the $119 price from our bookstore. We have worked very hard to get you this pricing.

Welcome Letter and Syllabus:
The welcome letter and syllabus are available.  If you have any immediate questions, please feel free to contact me.

Contact Info:
It is best to contact me at jcohen@oakton.edu rather than using the D2L e-mail. This makes it much easier to respond to you regardless of which device I am using.
