3. Respond to the UN Declaration of Human Rights and the UN Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous People. Focus on some provisions that you find particularly interesting. In other words, discuss some provisions that you think are particularly important, some provisions with which you disagree, or what you see as key omissions. Offer philosophical reasons for your viewpoints.
4. Discuss your evaluation of
Marx's theory of alienation. Do you agree with his analysis?
if not, explain where the analysis goes wrong? If you do agree,
apply the theory of alienation to some aspect of contemporary society
such as your job or Facebook.
6. Remember that your journal should include your responses to events you have attended for participation credit or extra credit to make up for absences.
9. Explain in your own words what Shiva means by earth democracy. Do you agree with her conception or any part of her conception? Why or why not? Be specific. If you like another theory better, use that to do your critique.
10. Where do you stand now in terms of social justice? when you reflect over the course of the semester have your views changed? If so, in what ways? (Please note that this last topic allows you to revisit the views of any philosopher about whom you have changed your mind or about whom you have had new insights.)
11. Don't forget to include your event responses and proofs of attendance in your journal.
