Construct an interesting thesis about Milton's Satan.  Here are some issues you might address:
        * Is Satan a heroic rebel with admirable traits?  With good arguments?
        * Does this portrayal of Satan undermine or enhance Milton's stated purpose of justifying God's ways to man?
To do this ARP, you should at least have read the assigned parts of Paradise Lost that focus most heavily on Satan: Book 1, selections from Book 2, and selections from Book 5.  These will allow you to discuss the portrayal of Satan prior to his entrance into Eden in some detail.  If you want to focus on the issue of justifying God's ways to man, you should also read the assigned selection from Book 3 before doing your paper.
