Analyze Zarathustra’s encounter with the pope in Book 4.  You will need to look at “Retired,” “The Awakening,” and “The Ass Festival.”  What does this add to our understanding of Nietzsche’s critique of organized religion in general and Christianity in particular?  Is it significant that the pope is probably the only character who really argues with Zarathustra?
