1. Know the definitions at the ends of Chapters Ten and Eleven.
  2. Be able to identify the instances of informal fallacies as you did in your homework. Some of the matches at the beginning of the quiz will require you to identify examples of fallacies. The tutorial on the web may help you practice.
  3. You will be asked to construct examples of fallacies as you did in your group work on fairy tales. I would suggest that you focus on preparing to construct original examples of straw person arguments, red herring arguments, post hoc arguments, and slippery slope arguments.
  4. Be prepared to analyze arguments as in Quizzes # 4 and # 5. You will once again need to identify the kind of argument and to use the appropriate method of evaluation. In addition, I will also ask you whether there are any informal fallacies in the arguments. In other words, you will need to use all the techniques that have been introduced in the course.
  5. You may use one page of notes (both sides) during the quiz.

Doing the tutorial on the World Wide Web may help you in preparing for the quiz. Once again, the URL is http://www.harbrace.com/phil/rudinow/review/index.html
