  1. Preparation
  1. You will find the assignments under Unit 2-C in the syllabus.
  2. Readings- Kozier: pages 760-763, 818-820
  3. Video- none required. The capillary blood glucose machines will be demonstrated in lab.
  4. Critical Thinking Questions-
    1. Your client has a capillary blood glucose ordered. Her fingers are pale and cool. Her pulse is +1 and her capillary refill is 10 seconds. When try to perform the test, the blood specimen is not large enough. What could you do?

    3. Your client is pale, diaphoretic and jittery. He has a history of insulin dependent diabetes mellitus. He also has a gastric ulcer and has been taking Maalox (antacid) for that. You check his glucose and find it to be 100. What is wrong with the client and what would you do?
