It's Still Buying Pols To Me
Satire about the new campaign finance reform law
(Sung to the tune of "It's Still Rock & Roll To Me" by Billy Joel)
Guest song parody by Skisics Surus, skisics@yahoo.com

(instrumental intro)

What's the matter with the new rules passing?
Can't you see loopholes are too wide?
Maybe they should limit soft cash dollars;
Welcome back to the same old jive.

Where have you been hidin' out lately, sonny?
Seekin' office, you must spend a whole lot of money.
Everybody's talkin' 'bout the new law,
Funny, but it's still buying pols to me.

What's the matter with reforms they're driving?
Can't you tell that they're just too mild?
Should companies keep the pols they hired?
Are they gonna lose those dues they piled?

True reform's considered too detrimental.
Your best bet's a new local hack that's for rental.
Hot bunk, slam dunk, after then, they're all junk,
It's still buying pols to me.

(instrumental break)

Oh, it doesn't matter what they say in the papers.
'Cause it's always been the same old scene.
There's no new band in town.
But you can't get info from a story in a magazine...
Aimed to hide the facts gleaned...

How about a pair of House insiders,
Bought for that cash in your pants?
You could really be in the know, maybe,
If you just give 'em cash advance.
Don't waste your dough bein' publicity seeker.
You get more mileage when you buy the House Speaker.
Next phase, rules waived, cash craze, anyway,
It's still buying pols to me.

What's the matter with the crowd we're seeing?
Don't you know that they're out of touch?
Should they try to be straight arrow good men?
If they are, then they think too much.
Just need to know the old boy fashion, sonny.
All they need are looks and a whole lot of money.
It's the next phase, rules waived, cash craze, anyway,
It's still buying pols to me

Everybody's talkin' 'bout the new law,
Funny, but it's still buying pols to me.
