Chao of the Chinese
Gong Fu Institute (4614 N. Western, Chicago, IL, 773/728-8682)
will lecture about and demonstrate different styles of Chinese martial
arts (collectively known as "Wushu"), including Gong-Fu (Kung Fu), Tai
Ji (Tai Chi), and several styles of weapons (Chinese broad sword and multi-section
pole), including the histories of the various styles and their use in self-defense
as well as for exercise.

Father and son acupuncturists Dr. Xin-Xiang Feng and Xuehua Feng will present a workshop on Chinese acupuncture, a system of traditional Chinese medicine dating back 5,000 years, which has been found to be especially beneficial in treating chronic diseases and health disorders. Xin-Xiang Feng is a licensed acupuncturist with over 35 years of experience in Chinese medicine, specializing in treatment of pain and gastro-intestinal disorders. Xuehua Feng is a licensed acupuncturist, and has expertise in treating insomnia, and disorders of the skin and reproductive systems.

Acting Regional Administrator Bharat Mathur (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency - Region 5), Regional Administrator Ollice C. Holden (USDA-Food & Nutrition Service - Midwest Regional Office), and Regional Director Joseph Galvan (U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development) are scheduled to give opening remarks for their respective agencies. This year’s keynote speaker will be attorney Dr. John Z. Huang, whose Chicago law practice, John Z. Huang & Associates, specializes in immigration and nationality law.
Featured entertainment: The Dong Fang Performing Arts Association (featuring traditional folk songs and dances from China), and Italian lyric opera selections by Indo-American mezzo-soprano Beena David, accompanied by Japanese-American classical pianist Saori Chiba.
Back by popular demand, the Taste of Asia Luncheon (details below) will be served at the conclusion of the cultural performances (luncheon requires the purchase of a food ticket - see list below and contact your local ticket agent).
