1. Notes on NSF Oakton Fellowship
 

Forty-two students have been accepted into the STEM Enrichment Program (SEP) and the STEM Mentoring Program
(SMP). Once they complete the program requirements, they will receive the NSF Oakton Fellowship at the end of the
semester. In addition, those who have completed the programs are eligible to remain in the program for the next semester.

Reminder: NSF Oakton Fellowship participants, please meet your mentors six times, and participate in four activities.

 

2. Math Competition

 

Mark your calendar. The AMATYC Mathematics Competition will be held at 1:00pm-3:00pm in Rooms 1608-1610 on the
Des Plaines campus, and Rooms P103-104 on the Ray Harstein campus in Skokie. The level of competition is at
Precalculus. Every Oakton student is welcome to participate.

Winners of the competition will receive awards. Especially, the top six annual award winners will receive the US
Savings Bonds: first place, $200; second and third, $150 each; 4th, 5th and 6th, $100 each.

The STEM Club will hold three preparation workshops in Room 2140 at 2:30pm-3:30pm
- Wednesday, Oct.11,
- Thursday Oct. 19, and
- Thursday Oct. 26,

  3. Field Trip
   
  October 31, Engineering and Physics Club will organize a trip visiting JUNO Lighting’s Ideal Lab. The Oakton van will leave at 9:00am and return by noon. A light lunch will be provided. Sign-up can be taken at the Division II office, Room 2180.Details of the field trip are also available at the Division II office. Every Oakton student is welcome.
