1. Spring 2007 NSF-Oakton STEM Fellowship

 

All students who are interested in a career of STEM are encouraged to apply for the spring NSF-Oakton STEM Fellowship. For more information, please visit http://www.oakton.edu/current/Fellowship.pdf. You will see the links to application forms on the web page.

Current NSF-Oakton Fellowship participants are friendly reminded to renew the Spring 2007 NSF-Oakton Fellowship. Please visit Dr. Wang in Room 2142 for renewal. His is available at 9am-5pm, Monday through Friday, except Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons.

All Oakton employees, please encourage your students to apply for this prestigious fellowship

 
2. Notes for NSF-Oakton STEM Fellowship participants
 

Please mark your calendar. You are required to meet your mentor six times and participate in four activities. You are strongly advised to attend the following activities. Refreshments will be provided:

-- Meeting with Dr. Elizabeth Teles, NSF program officer, 2:30-3:30pm, December 6, Wednesday, in Room 1550. This will count as one of the four required activities. Please mark your calendar and prepare to attend. Participating half of the meeting will be good if you have a class at 3pm.

-- CEO, Scholar and Expert Forum, 3pm-4:30pm, December 11, Monday, in Room 1608/1610.

-- All NSF-Oakton STEM Fellowship participants Gathering, 3pm-4:30pm, December 12, Tuesday, in Room 1610

   
  3. Math Competition Results, and CEO, Scholar and Expert Forum
   
 

The AMATYC-Oakton Math Competition was held on November 1, 2006. 103 Oakton students participated in the competition. The following are the winners of this competition:

First Place: Ed MacGrath
Second Place: Zaneta Dymon
Third Place: Hee Woong Kang
Fourth Place: Daniel Adelman, Mariam Shlimon
Fifth Place: Brett Higuera
Honorable Mention: Donna Kang, Lidia Koma, Changeun Lee, Kausar Gaffar, Phuong Huynh, Adib Chaus, Roxanne Escobar, Rustom Hakimiyan, Francis Lee.

The Math Competition Award Ceremony, and CEO, Scholar and Expert Forum will be held at 3pm-4:30pm, Monday, December 11, in Room 1610. Refreshments will be provided. All math competition participants will receive a certificate of participation. All students and their friends and family members are welcome.
