In
collaboration with Oakton's Honors
Program and Learning
Center, S3 trains honors students who are
taking or have taken higher level science, technology, engineering,
and mathematics (STEM) courses* to become tutors. As an
honors project, an S3 participant will participate
in ten-hour training focusing on student learning styles,
instructional strategies for strengthening students' academic
performance, teaching/learning theories and techniques,
and active peer collaboration in processing course materials.
They will be assigned to observe a STEM class, lead a study
session for the class two hours per week, and communicate
with the instructor about course contents and issues students
raised during study sessions.

| S3
are paid a $800 fellowship for the semester. S3
participants who are taking a higher level course of STEM,
or EGL101/EGL102, may be eligible to join STEM Mentoring
Program. |

Aug. 21 from 1 - 5pm Orientation,
- Tuesdays,
from 3:30 - 4:30 between Aug. 25 and Oct. 13 except Sept.

- biweekly meetings with program

- session observations by program coordinator to be arranged.

MAT250 or higher, CHM207 or higher, PHY221 or higher. |
