December 9, 2003.....I have posted a Review of Political Philosophers that will also help you study for the final exam. Remember that you must take the final in the Testing Center.

December 1, 2003......The Study Guide for the Final Exam in now available.

October 6, 2003......Remember to take the midterm exam by Saturday at the latest, and you should submit the work that you have done on your journal so far. Due to student request, we will not proceed with new material this week. This means that you do not have to post comments on moral relativism. Thus, you can spend more time studying and working on your journal.

October 1, 2003....Here is the Study Guide for the Midterm Exam. Remember that you need to take the midterm next week. The exam will be available from Monday, October 6 through Saturday, October 11. You may take the Midterm at either of Oakton's Testing Centers.
This week or next you should submit your journal to me. An up-to-date journal will cover the material on philosophy of religion and epistemology. If you are behind, you should still submit what you have written since the feedback that I give you will help you to address problems that you may be having. You may incorporate comments that you have made on the Discussion Forum into your journal, but you journal should give a more comprehensive and unified account of your responses and intellectual development. You may submit a hard copy of your journal by mail (H. Graff, Division 3, Oakton Community College, 1600 East Golf Road, Des Plaines, IL 60016) or bring it to the Division 3 Office at Des Plaines (2430). You may also send me a copy of your journal as an email attachment.

September 26, 2003......Some of you have gotten behind in taking the quizzes. If you have not taken the quiz by the recommended date, you should still take it. Please notice that you may take the quizzes more than once. This feature will help you review for the midterm. However, the first grade that you receive will be the one that is factored into your final grade. Several of you have asked about the grading scale for the quizzes. It is as follows: 9-10...A, 8...B, 7....C, 6....D, 5....F.

I am sure that many of you have questions and comments that you want to make before you take the midterm and hand in your journal for the first time. Please join me in the chat room this Thursday, October 2, from 7:00-8:00 P.M. If this isn't a good time, please let me know what would be a better time for you.

September 16......This Thursday, September 18, from 7:00-8:00 PM, I will be in the Chat Room. Please drop by to discuss how the class is going, to ask any questions that you have, to discuss the current topic, or just to say hello. You don't need to stay for the entire hour; just sign off when you need to. You can access the Chat Room from the home page. Type your comments into the space at the bottom of the page and hit enter. If this is a bad time for you, email me and let me know what a better time would be. I look forward to chatting with you.

September 2.......The first online quiz is now available. You should take it by Friday. You may use your books or review the tape while taking the quiz. The quiz consists of 10 multiple-choice questions. Most of you will finish the quiz in five to ten minutes, but I have given you a 3-hour time limit so that no one can possible not have enough time. Quizzes will be based on the material in the tapes, the text, and the instructor's notes. Reading the primary source material such as The Apology will also assist you, but your journal is the more appropriate place to show your knowledge of the primary source material. As you take the quiz, don't forget to save each of your answers. As soon as you have submitted your quiz, you can view your results.

August 19..........Don't forget to attend the Orientation Session on for Introduction to Philosophy that will be held on Wednesday, August 27, from 7:00 PM to 7:50 PM, in room 1833, at the Des Plaines campus. Attending the Orientation Session is the best way to get off to a successful star in this course and to quickly get the answers to all your questions. This orientation takes place in a computer lab so that you can practice accessing all the parts of this class. I look forward to seeing you there. Welcome Letter
