Logic is the branch of knowledge that deals with the structure of arguments and the relationships between concepts. In this class, we will discuss how formal systems come to be created by using only a few basic concepts and a few basic rules that tell us how to work with them. We will learn how to create 'consistent arguments; that is, arguments whose conclusions follow logically from their premises. And, most importantly of all, we will discuss how this is relevant to our daily lives, to our understanding of the world, and our ability to distinguish meaningful human communication from just blah blah blah ...
