Welcome to the World of Economics!The U.S. economy officially entered into a recessionary period in December 2007. Has the recession now ended? When will the economy begin to really expand? Should the government take additional actions to stimulate the economy? The price of crude oil peaked at about $147 per barrel in the summer of 2008. It is approximately $70 per barrel today. Will its price continue to fall? Or will the price of crude oil increase as the economy begins to expand? What causes the price of oil to increase and decrease? What effect do changes in the price of crude oil have on the U.S. economy? Why does the value of the U.S. dollar appreciate and depreciate on the international market? What effect does this have on the U.S. economy? In the aggregate does international trade bring more jobs to the U.S. or remove more jobs from the U.S.? These are just a few of the many questions that are examined in the study of economics. Join us in the study of these and many more exciting issues.
