The Alliance for Lifelong Learning (ALL) offers continuing education for residents, employers and employees of the community who desire to take classes without having to enroll in formal college-level courses.

ALL offers courses in nine programming areas:

•Community Education  
• Emeritus Program  
• Evening High School Completion
• GED
• English as a Second Language
• Literacy
• Professional Continuing Education
• Studio 3 (formerly known as Kids' College)
• Continuing Education for Health Professionals

Basic Nurse Assistant Training Room C200, (847) 635-1461

The Basic Nurse Assistant Training (BNAT) curriculum offers a basic study of principles and procedures used by the nurse assistant in long-term care, home health settings and hospitals, focusing on basic human needs and care of the elderly.

Hands-on clinical experience is provided.

Early Childhood Education Center Room C151 and C152, (847) 635-1441

The Early Childhood Education Demonstration Center, which is part of the Early Childhood Education academic program, provides:

• a full-day program for children, ages 3 to 5
• a part-day program for children, ages 3 to 5

The Center does not provide "drop-in" care.

Hours

Fall/Spring Semester: Part-day Program - Monday/Wednesday/Friday, 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 - 3:30 p.m.; Tuesday/Thursday, 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Full-day Program - Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Summer Session: Part-day Program - Monday/Wednesday, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. and Tuesday/Thursday, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Full-day Program - Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Emeritus Program Room A155, (847) 635-1414

Emeritus is a credit and non-credit program designed for persons over the age of 50 who are seeking the challenge and intellectual stimulation of a unique learning experience.

Emeritus programs include:

• College credit classes
• Non-credit classes
• Seminars and lectures such as Passport to the World, Passages, and weekend classes
• Humanities Treasures discussion groups (off campus)

Fall/Spring Semester: Monday - Friday, 8:30. - 5 p.m.

Summer Session: Monday - Friday, 7:45 a.m. - 5 p.m.

ESL/Literacy/GED/VITA Program Room B111, (847) 635-1426

Oakton’s English as a Second Language (ESL) and Literacy programs are located at the Ray Hartstein campus. Students seeking information regarding non-credit English as a Second Language classes or literacy classes for either American-born or ESL students can obtain brochures and class schedules and talk with ESL staff. In addition, anyone interested in volunteering to tutor adults in ESL or reading (the VITA program) is encouraged to discuss this with staff.

Student Activities

The Student Activities Office at the Ray Hartstein Campus and the Des Plaines Campus:

• Provides a wide variety of programs and services to enhance the college experience for all college students.
• Promotes a social environment in which students will be encouraged and challenged.
• Provides opportunities for growth and leadership.
• Provides a connection to the College's athletic and intramural program as well as the Performing Arts.

Extracurricular activities include:

• Board of Student Affairs (student government)
• Student programming and entertainment groups
• Student Clubs
• OCCurrence (student newspaper)
• Leadership Workshops

The Student Activities Office also serves as the ticket box office for:

• College events and Performing Arts Productions
• Discounted Passes for PACE/CTA buses
• Great America discount tickets (summer only)

Student Leaders RHC

• Student Leaders RHC is a student organization that represents the student voice at the Ray Hartstein Campus. Members take an active role in planning, programming, and carrying out events, in identifying issues and needs, and in the development of student life on the campus.
