Welcome

I have worked in the healthcare industry for sixteen years concentrating
mainly on medical billing and reimbursement. After working as a collection
specialist for physician practices of various specialties for nine years,
I realized that I desired more stimulating responsibilities for my career.
Using my extensive knowledge of medical billing practices, and
governmental billing and coding regulations, I changed the focus of my
career from collections to billing compliance and teaching. I have come
to enjoy the challenges and unpredictability of the education function of
my profession.

Healthcare professionals are in high demand these days and employers are
looking for individuals with experience. It is imperative to provide
real-life examples for the students to ease the transition into their new
field. An employer is more likely to hire a recent graduate if the
individual recognizes key terms and can relate to scenarios that can occur
in a healthcare facility. I believe that my extensive knowledge of
medical billing practices, and governmental billing and coding regulations
can benefit a student interested in the administrative healthcare field.
