Welcome
Welcome to my Oakton home page. Currently I am teaching coding
courses in the Associate Degree in Health Information Technology (HIT) and the Medical Coding Programs. I teach on both the Skokie and Des
Plaines campuses. I received my AAS from Indiana University and my BS in Healthcare Leadership from Lewis University.
I have also earned my CCS credential as a certified coding specialist. .
I have worked in
several
areas of this field; as a hospital coder in both inpatient and outpatient areas. Most recently, I was employed full time at 3MHIS as a Nosologist providing coding support for 3M clients. My duties also include vast knowledge with encoder products, but this field is always changing
and
there is always something new and exciting to learn. The career
options are increasing as new technologies emerge and it is
expected
that the demand for credentialed professionals will continue to
grow.
