Welcome!
Hello and welcome to my home page!
I have taught in the Health Information Technology
Department for 13 years. I hold a Doctorate in Higher Education, a
Masters degree in Public Health, and I have been an RHIT since 1979. I
began working in health information in 1971, in the acute care setting.
Over the course of several decades I worked as a Medicare
Coder, a DRG Coordinator, Revenue Cycle Manager, and an Evening
Supervisor. I came
to Oakton as a facilitator and instructor in 1999 as adjunct faculty,
but since that time I worked for the AMA as a Senior Policy Analyst in
Quality and Performance Improvement activities, working with multiple
national agencies to advance the Affordable Care Act. I returned to Oakton as full-time faculty in 2011.
Our profession is one of innovation and
change, and we rely heavily on our knowledge base in both clinical
and information systems. I hope to bring to the classroom
my enthusiasm for our profession and my love of learning.
See you in class!
