Six Piano Ensemble CANCELED
Founded and conducted by Glenna Sprague, Oakton professor and coordinator of music, the Six Piano Ensemble has amazed and delighted sold-out audiences throughout the country. This year the ensemble celebrates two anniversaries—the 50th anniversary of Oakton and the 250th anniversary of Beethoven. The group performs classical, ragtime and popular music as well as symphonic repertoire transcribed for the six pianos. The program features works by Beethoven, Bach, Dvorak, Scott Joplin, Leonard Bernstein, Robert Vandall as well as a medley of songs from the 1970s to commemorate Oakton’s 50th anniversary. The rich, layered sound of the ensemble is comparable to that of an orchestra as the melody transfers from pianist to pianist. Widely acknowledged as one of the most unique musical groups in the world, critics from Vienna to Glasgow hail the Six Piano Ensemble as “innovative,” “technically superb,” and “musical.” Get your tickets early and enjoy an extraordinary concert experience. A reception follows the concerts.
