Oakton to host May 23 small business resource fair

(May 4, 2018) Oakton Community College has partnered with North Shore Community Bank & Trust Company to help small business owners take their business to the next level in hosting its second annual small business resource fair from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, at the college’s Skokie campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Avenue.

“Community matters, and Oakton is pleased to partner with Wintrust and North Shore Community Bank to provide local businesses the resources they need to succeed,” says Ruben Howard, Ph.D., director of continuing education, training, and workforce development. “We hope that small businesses of all kinds will find the presentations and resources at the fair useful to them as they work to achieve business success.”

The event is free for local startups and established businesses and features marketing, finance and operations workshops geared to different stages of the small business life cycle: startups, established business and succession planning. Learn from expert presenters in the areas of marketing, finance and operations in addition to local vendors.

The schedule for the day is as follows:

8:30-9 a.m.                 Check-in and networking (Continental breakfast provided)

9 a.m. – Noon             Breakout Tracks

  • Track 1: Startup Businesses
  • Track 2: Established Businesses
  • Track 3: Succession Planning

Noon – 1:30 p.m.       Networking (Refreshments provided)
