Oakton spring registration opens Wednesday, Nov. 14

(Nov. 5, 2018) Now is the time to think about enrolling for the spring semester at Oakton. Registration for spring credit courses begins at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14. Sixteen-week classes begin Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2019.

Oakton ranks among the Top 50 Best Community Colleges nationwide according to the 2019 ValueColleges.com report of community colleges, which ranks schools by return on investment based on graduation and transfer rates, midlevel salaries for graduates and actual costs of attendance.

Oakton students spend about one-third of what they would to earn the same credits at traditional colleges or universities. According to a recent report prepared for the Illinois Community College Board, a 25-year-old Oakton graduate can expect an increase in lifetime earnings of approximately $724,000 more than someone with only a high school diploma—a 56 percent bump in total lifetime earnings as compared with someone not completing a community college program.

Oakton also ranks No. 1 in Illinois for adult learners for the third straight year in terms of convenience, flexibility and affordability, according to Washington Monthly. Classes are offered weekdays, evenings and weekends at its campuses in Des Plaines and Skokie, as well as online.
