ACCOUNTING ASSOCIATE CERTIFICATE

Curriculum: 0003  
This certificate is designed for students who want to get the most comprehensive accounting education. The courses will provide bookkeeping skills, tax preparation skills as well as all of the content of the CPA exam.

BOOKKEEPING CERTIFICATE  

This certificate is designed to help people obtain immediate jobs in accounting. Topics include general ledger, receivables, payables, payroll, and accounting systems. Students will gain the skills necessary for accounting jobs and the program can be finished in less than 18 months for part-time students.

After completing this certificate, students may consider sitting for the national Professional Bookkeepers exam. For more information on this exam, please visit www.aipb.org.

INCOME TAX PREPARATION CERTIFICATE  

This certificate includes basic accounting and bookkeeping skills as well as a background in taxes. Tax topics include individuals, corporations, partnerships, estates and trusts.

Students who complete this certificate are eligible to take the IRS Enrolled Agent exam. For more information about becoming an IRS Enrolled Agent, please visit www.irs.gov.

PROFESSIONAL ACCOUNTING - CPA PREPARATION CERTIFICATE*  

This certificate is designed for students who are working toward the CPA exam. The courses include all of the accounting topics on the national exam and also count toward the education requirement to sit for the exam. Students who already taken the first two courses at other schools do not need to take them again at Oakton.

Please note that in order to sit for the exam, students need to fulfill the requirements described on our CPA Exam page.
