`

Education Background:

  • B.A., Louisiana State University, Sociology, 1974
  • M.A., Louisiana State University, Sociology, 1976
  • Ph.D., University of Georgia, Sociology, 1980

Teaching Philosophy:

I mainly see my role as facilitator. I try to provide assistance, opportunities and resources for my students to critically and independently analyze existing sociological positions as well as develop independent sociological conclusions and recognition of the implications of the original ideas. The students' required independent thinking abilities should be developed via participatory behaviors with the instructor as well as fellow students. To accomplish the above objectives the teacher should:

1. Provide information;
2. Provide Assistance; and
3. Make the classroom situation fun, stimulating and, of course, challenging.
