Student Services of interest to CAB students Oakton has a variety of services available to assist you in meeting your educational goals. Our staff is here to serve you. Know what is available to you and take advantage of these services to help meet your personal and professional learning needs. Career Services is part of the educational services of Oakton Community College. Our primary goal is to help students, alumni and community members become career self-reliant. Provided are career counseling, job search coaching, workshops, resources, two campus locations , services for employers, job listings, on-campus recruiting, and a student employee program. More about College Success The college's Computer Labs Information Technology supports approximately two dozen computer labs across both the Oakton campuses. These include classroom labs, special use labs, and open labs where students can work independently. All Oakton credit students and students in specially designated non-credit classes requiring computer access have access to the labs. More about Computer Labs The Advising and Counseling Center is committed to promoting an environment of student self-advocacy and empowerment. We provide consistent, comprehensive advising and counseling services to support students in achieving their academic and personal goals. Advisors and counselors in the Advising and Counseling Center can assist you in developing an educational plan, selecting appropriate courses to meet your goals, preparing to transfer to another institution, and coping with academic and personal issues. More about Counseling & Advising ASSIST--Disability services provides accommodations and services to college able students with documented disabilities. Accommodations and services are offered in accordance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act. More about Disability Services The Learning Center has many ways to help you improve your grammar, writing and reading skills. Services include tutoring forr individual appointments and drop-in sessions, online tutoring, computer programs and videos for additional information and practice, conversation groups for opportunities to practice speaking, study skills for reinforcing skills which support writing and reading and workshops for native and non-native students. More about English/ESL Support services are provided for low income or first generation students. The mission of SSS TRiO at Oakton Community College is to help students be successful in college. SSS TRiO helps students manage the demands of college life by providing a support system of caring professionals. More about SSS TRIO Study skills are strategies that help us learn more efficiently. There are many startegies to use that make studying easier. There are ways to decide which, when, and how to use them. More about Study Skills The Testing Center administers assessment tests for English and mathematics. In addition, students may take make-up tests, tests for media based and online courses, and Constitution tests in the Testing Center. There is a testing center located on each Oakton campus.
