Welcome to the Chemistry program!
Chair: John Carzoli, 847.376.7042 or jcarzoli@oakton.edu
Oakton’s chemistry curriculum begins with courses for students who have not yet taken high school chemistry, continues through general college chemistry, and includes advanced courses in organic chemistry, biochemistry, and quantitative analysis.
We aim to meet the needs of students pursuing a variety of study and career options in the chemical sciences. Bridging areas of science, including biology, physics, environmental science, and health sciences, chemistry is a stepping stone to many occupations in diverse fields including engineering, medicine, pharmaceutical science, energy technology, toxicology, art preservation, and education. Students who enroll in our program find themselves intellectually stimulated. As students’ skills and confidence grow, they become better analytical thinkers and problem solvers.
Our department is staffed by a dynamic group of individuals who have tremendous enthusiasm for teaching chemistry. We maintain high standards and place primary emphasis on a quality education.
I encourage you to explore Oakton’s chemistry courses and please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
