Minimum Requirements are:
  • Graduation from an accredited high school or General Education Development (GED) certification.
  • If you have foreign college credits, or high school credits you may have an evaluation by ECE if you want to have transfer credit or prove high school proficiency. See Oakton International Student admission information. Contact the Admissions Office at 847-635-1629 for ECE forms.
  • One year of high school Biology (with laboratory) or BIO 101 with a grade of "C" or better.
  • One full year of high school Mathematics or MAT 047.
  • College level reading and entry level competency for EGL 101 as demonstrated by coursework or assessment. If applicants do not have EGL 101 or equivalent, completion of Oakton English assessment tests are required. (Both WSAT and DRP tests must be taken.)

Other Requirements:
  • Proof of health insurance, and current complete physical.
  • Meet Essential Skills which include physical, communicative/cognitive, emotional/psychological criteria.
  • Interview with and consent of HIT Faculty.
