Please see admission requirements before completing the application process.
Application deadline for full-time day AAS degree or
medical coding certificate (August Admission) is July 1 or
until program is full. In-district students are given priority.
Application deadline for part-time evening program AAS
degree or medical coding certificate (January admission)
is Nov. 1 or until program is full.

- Attend an HIT information session.
- Complete and submit a Oakton College Application for Admission to the Admission Office as a general student. You can submit an on-line application. You can start taking general education requirements and prerequisite courses prior to admission to the program.
- Complete a transcript request form to have an official sealed copy of any high school/GED and college transcripts sent to:

- You may choose to have official transcripts in a sealed envelope sent to yourself and turn them in at your advising meeting. This will expedite the admission process.
- If you have foreign college credits, or high school credits you may have an evaluation by ECE if you want to have transfer credit or prove high school proficiency. See Oakton International Student admission information. Contact the Admissions Office at 847-635-1629 for ECE forms.
- You must show proof of ENG 101 level and MAT 047. If not you must take English and Math Assessment Tests (WSAT & DRP) prior to your advising session with the program advisor.
- Acceptance will be delayed until the above steps are completed.
- To expedite your admission, follow through with all steps as soon as possible.
- Complete
and submit a Health
Care Application to Arlene Sattler, HIT Advisor indicating
which AAS/HIT program or coding program you want and which campus
you plan to attend. To prove district residency you need to provide
a copy of your drivers license or other acceptable proof of residency
listed on the application.
- You will
be contacted by a program advisor who will schedule you for an
advising session. The HIT program advisor, Arlene Sattler
can be reached at (847) 376-7034.
- After you
have completed all the above steps and met with Arlene
Sattler, asattler@oakton.edu ,
HIT program advisor, you will interview with HIT Program Chair,
Anita Taylor, anitat@oakton.edu,
847-635-1957 about acceptance into the program you are interested
in.
- Applicants with a complete file who are admitted to the program will be formally notified in writing.
- Attend HIT orientation/registration session.
