March 2, 2006 OCC Board Room
The meeting convened at 5:30 with Bob Sompolski chairing.
1. Introductions
Members Present: Majid Ghadiri, Jim LaPalermo, John Poplawski, Dave Ruber, Larua Saret, Bob Sompolski2. Courses (RFD 101 needs approval, MGT 162)
RFD 101 was approved with a minor revision to include historical aspects of data collection in the sequence of topics. That course will be sent to the College Curriculum Committee. MGT 162 does not require the same approval for the College curricular process, but was viewed as a welcome addition to the certificates being discussed. The group expressed an interest in a 5 hour version of the merger of RFD 101 and MGT 162 in the future. Enrollment patterns will be studied to determine if such a move can be justified.3. Certificates (RFID, TWL)
Possible additions to the optional courses in these certificates were a course on Project Management and a course on Enterprise Software systems. The group will reconsider the inclusion of MGT 236/CIS 236 Project Management in the certificates and explore the ability to procure funds for an appropriate Enterprise Software system to base future coursework on.4. Curricular (Georgia Tech material)
Tabled for a future discussion so that faculty from the management discipline can be present.5. Marketing & Outreach
An advertisement for the College enrollment publications was shared. Oakton has several upcoming events where the program can be marketed including:March 23, The OCC College Wide Open House
Room 1610 Des Plaines Campus, beginning at 5:30 PM
April 18, The OCC Art, Science and Technology Pavilion Dedication
P103 Skokie Campus, beginning at 3:30 PM
April 26, The OCC Technology Open House
P103 Skokie Campus, beginning at 5:30 PM
Suggestions were made that trade journals, Crain's and the Tribune be made aware of these events. Such publications may be the only options that the College has for advertising the program out of district. Executive breakfasts with local industrial leaders represented another means by which the College could get the word out on the curriculum.
The meeting adjourned at 7:30.
