PLC
Programming Classes MFG 240 and MFG 250 |
|
| Class Syllabus | Prior to the introduction of the Microprocessor chip in the 1970's, all machine control was accomplished by the use of relays. Control systems were designed with discrete wiring between all the logic elements of the control system. (Relays, switches and push buttons.) Shortly after the invention of the Microprocessor chip in the early 1970's the first programmable controllers came on the market. Within ten years they completely changed the controls market place. |

| In today's industrial marketplace a good understanding of PLC systems is required for most positions in maintenance organizations or system integrator companie. Automated equipment used by companies in the manufacturing, distribution or warehousing business are mostly controlled by PLC controllers. Oakton offers a comprehensive PLC training program using the Allen Bradley SLC-500 line of controllers. All students receive extensive hands on training in programming ladder logic, design of HMI displays, interfacing of valves, switches and other I/O devices, debugging ladder and diagnostic programs. |

| MFG 240 is our introduction class that covers I/O interfacing, power wiring, scan sequences, memor layout and ladder programming for simple machines. MFG 250 is our advance class that covers HMI display design tag list generation, large machine programming with full diagnostic programs. Students will get the opportunity to program and debug a pallet track CIM cell and a Harata circuit board testing machine. This experience working on real industrial grade machines is extremely valuable when applying for a job position or seeking advance within your organization.
