Associate Degree Nursing Program
Program Overview

Picture of nursing student and  the patientThe Associate Degree Nursing curriculum prepares the student for a position as a registered nurse in a variety of health care settings. The program is approved by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Board of Nursing, 320 W. Washington St., Springfield, IL 62786 and is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accreditting Commission, Inc. (1995), 61 Broadway - 33rd floor, New York, NY 10006. 

Students who successfully complete the first year of the Associate Degree Nursing curriculum may select the option of enrolling in NUR 151. Upon completion of this course, students receive the Practical Nurse certificate and are eligible to apply for the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (LPN). 

Picture of nursing students who are talkingStudents who successfully complete the second year of the curriculum are eligible to apply for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses. Eligibility to sit for the licensure examination is determined by the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation of the State of Illinois. 

Nursing courses are a combination of classroom and clinical experiences. Classes are usually held on the Des Plaines campus, while clinical experience is offered in a variety of health care settings in the community. Students must provide their own transportation between the college campus and the clinical sites. This is a limited enrollment program. Students interested in this currriculum must submit an application to the College and complete a Health Care Program Admission application.
