Oakton offers both credit and noncredit ESL programs.

Noncredit ESL

  • Beginning through high-intermediate levels
  • Focus in lower levels on survival skills; focus in upper levels on comprehensive reading, writing, grammar, and TOEFL preparation
  • Free and tuition-based courses.
  • Classes at the Ray Hartstein campus in Skokie and many community locations.
  • Morning, afternoon, evening, and weekend classes.

Credit ESL

  • Low-intermediate through advanced levels.
  • Focus on academic and advanced work-related skills; preparation for college and university courses.
  • Tuition-based program.
  • Classes at the Des Plaines campus and the Ray Hartstein campus in Skokie.
  • Morning, afternoon, evening, and weekend classes.
