Oakton Scholarships

Oakton Community College Educational Foundation

Full- or part-time student, 2.75 GPA, completed 15 credit hours. Student must be enrolled in a study abroad program through the Illinois Consortium for International Studies and Programs. Contact the Global Studies Coordinator.

Sister Cities International of Des Plaines

Full-time student, 2.5 GPA, enrolled in a study abroad program through the Illinois Consortium for International Studies and Programs. Contact the Global Studies Coordinator.

American Institute for Foreign Study (AIFS)

Provides up to 150 semester scholarships of $1000 each and up to 50 Summer scholarship of $750 each. AIFS also offers one full minority scholarship and three $2000 awards to minority students each semester. Each scholarship is for use on AIFS programs only. http://www.aifs.org

Bridging Scholarships for Study Abroad in Japan

For American undergraduates studying abroad in Japan. Must be US citizen or permanent resident and be enrolled as an undergraduate. Japanese language study is not a prerequisite. http://www.colorado.edu/ealld/atj/Bridging/scholarships.html

Council for International Eduational Exchange (CIEE)

Provides numerous scholarship opportunities, including the Robert B. Bailey II Minority Scholarship, offered to students of African, Hispanic, Native-American, or Arab ancestry, and the Travel Grant for Education Programs in the Third World, which supports students studying in economically developing countries of Asia, Africa, and Latin America. http://www.ciee.org

Freeman Asia Scholarships

Recipients must be US citizens and eligible for financial aid. Opportunities available for summer, semester, and academic year programs. Limited to Asian country study abroad. http://www.iie.org/pgms/freeman-asia

Gilman International Scholarships

Provides up to $5000 to US citizens who are currently receiving financial aid from the Pell grant. Awards vary on duration of study abroad program. Summer programs ineligible for awards. http://www.iie.org/gilman

ICISP

Offers $500 for study abroad on their programs to Costa Rica, England, Spain and Austria. Contact the Global Studies Coordinator.

Institute of International Education (IIE)

IIE partial or complete funding may be available in non-western countries. Scholarship awards vary depending on duration of study. http://www.iie.org/nsep

International Student Loan Center (ISLC)

Provides Stafford and alternative loan programs for U.S. students studying abroad. http://www.InternationalStudentLoan.com

Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarships

For up to one year of college work or equivalent approved study plan. Applicants must have completed two years of college study or have been employed in a recognized vocation for a minimum of two years. http://www.rotary.org
