Biography

My interests in philosophy focus primarily on social and political theory, though more recently I've become increasingly interested in healthcare ethics. When I first entered college, I intended to teach high school history. However, after I was introduced to Spinoza and Foucault in a Values class, I turned to philosophy and haven't looked back. In my opinion, the critical thinking skills and call for social justice make philosophy an important cornerstone of any education.

Teaching philosophy is a dream come true for me. I've wanted to be an educator my entire life, and the interactions with my students have been the most rewarding experiences of my academic career. I encourage an environment conducive to lively discourse and classroom interaction. After all, what is philosophy without debate!

I received my B.A. degree from Roanoke College in Salem VA, and my Masters from Loyola University Chicago. I am currently completing my Ph.D. at Loyola University Chicago. My dissertation is an appeal to discourse ethics in order to correct the current injustices undocumented migrants face in the United States.

I live in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood with my wife and our dog, Rosie.
In my spare time I enjoy reading science fiction and spending time with my family.
