About Online Courses

Web-based (Online) and Web-enhanced Courses

Oakton Community College offers a variety of classes delivered through the World Wide Web. While the majority of class time is spent on the Web,  most will require additional materials such as textbooks and/or video media. These credit courses can usually be adapted to the student's schedule and availability.

Oakton currently uses WebCT for most of it's online courses as well as to enhance and supplement a large number of face-to-face classes. Other courses, most prominently some math courses, use publisher-provided online sites.

Oakton also offers other distance learning options such as Media Based Courses and Interactive Television courses.

Inquiries about full-online/distance learning courses should be directed to the Alternative Education office. Students in face-to-face classes that are being enhanced with online materials should refer any questions to their instructors.
