About Non-WebCT Courses

About Non-WebCT Courses

Oakton currently uses WebCT as its course management software program for most classes developed in-house. Some courses are hosted on non-Oakton servers and use different software. Other courses make significant use of non-Oakton sites like MyMathLab. While WebCT and other platforms like BlackBoard function similarly, it is especially important for students to familiarize themselves with the technical demands and support provided by non-Oakton hosted classes. While much of the information presented here in the Online with Oakton Tech Resources pages remains valid and valuable for all online courses, off-site courses may have specific differences.

When you enroll in a non-WebCT course, you should receive a packet of materials outlining technical requirements, login procedures and related information. Please read through these materials thoroughly. If you have any questions, check with your instructor first. If you have a problem, your instructor will know whether it is something that Oakton can help with or whether it must be resolved by the off-site host.
