The
Office of Student Financial Assistance administers
a wide array of financial assistance programs available from several sources.
The information here will help you understand the different programs and
financing options available at Oakton and guide you in the application
process.
Financial assistance
is available in the form of grants, scholarships, work-study, and loans.
Assistance may be need-based or non-need based.
- Grants and scholarships
are considered a gift and do not have to be repaid. Scholarships are
funded through Oakton or private sources.
- Work-study is
on-campus employment.
- Loans are monies
that have to be repaid in the future.
Most applicants for
financial assistance must complete the Free Application for Federal Student
Aid (FAFSA). Scholarships require a separate application. Oakton's Office
of Student Financial Assistance also processes a variety of veterans benefits,
including the GI Bill.
