EYES ON CHINA: PAST AND PRESENT - FEE: $69
It seems that China is visible everywhere today
- in the news, in the workplace, in every trip to the store. But what
do we really know about this country of 1.3 billion people with the
world's fastest growing economy? As we enter the 21st century, which
some have called the "Chinese Century," an introduction
is long overdue. To understand the present and future, we need to appreciate
the past. This four-part class will provide an overview of China's history,
customs and language, and a snapshot of what is going on in China right now.
The instructor, an Oakton faculty member, was born, raised and educated in the
People's Republic of China.
