The primary purpose of the Continuing Education for Health Professionals program is to
provide continuing education courses for individuals in the health professions. These offerings are specifically designed to:

. Enrich and enlarge the professional knowledge of health care professionals
. Provide information on new emerging concepts in health care
. Upgrade current job status

INSTITUTIONAL ACCREDITATION
Certified Counselors: The Professional Counselor/Clinical Professional Counselor Licensing Board of the State of Illinois, Dept. of Professional Regulation, has approved Oakton Community College ALL/CEHP as a sponsor of continuing education in the 2006 - 2008 renewal period. The content will be developed to meet the criteria for awarding 6 clock hours.

Licensed Social Workers/Clinical Social Workers: Oakton Community College, ALL/CEHP has been approved as a provider of continuing education in the 2006 - 2008 renewal period by the Social Worker/Clinical Social Worker Licensing Board of the State of Illinois, Department of Professional Regulation.

Registered Nurses: Oakton Community College, ALL/CEHP is accredited as a provider of continuing education in nursing by the American Nurses' Credentialing Center's Commission
on Accreditation. CE credit for one-day programs is 7.5 contact hours.

Marriage And Family Therapists: Oakton Community College, Alliance for Lifelong Learning, Continuing Education for Health Professionals has been approved as a sponsor of continuing education in the 2006 - 2008 renewal period by the Marriage and Family Therapist Licensing Board of the State of Illinois Department of Professional Regulations, sponsor license number 168-000146.

Respiratory Care Practitioners: Oakton Community College, Alliance for Lifelong Learning, Continuing Education for Health Professionals has been approved as a C.E. sponsor for Respiratory Care Practitioners, license no. 195-000010.

Accreditation for Other Health Care Professional Continuing Education Activities: Educational achievement of select individual activities is also recognized by the following agencies: Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) for BNAT; IAODAPCA for Addiction Counselors; Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) for Registered Dietitians/Dietetic Technicians.

Other Professional Groups: The CEU is a specific, standard measure (10 contact hours) of educational achievement under the criteria of the International Association of Continuing Education and Training (IACET) to attest to 10 clock hour completion of continuing education activities.
