General Education Requirements:

A. Communications - (9 hours)
EGL 101** – online and media-based
EGL 102** – online and media-based
SPE 103 – available online at other
Illinois community colleges

Distance Learning Formats:

An online course is delivered entirely via the Internet. Students may be required to come on campus for testing or labs.

A media-based course is a pre-packaged course, predominantly delivered on video, CD-ROM, and/or audiotape. Some media-based courses also utilize the Internet. Students may be required to come on campus for testing or labs.

B. Mathematics - (3 hours)

MAT 180, MAT 250 - online
MAT 129 (elem. education majors only) – online

C. Science - (7 hours)
BIO 101 – online
PHY 115 or EAS 121 – media-based

D. Social and Behavioral Sciences - (9 hours)
PSY 101, SOC 101 – online and media-based
ECO 201, ECO 202, HIS 111, HIS 112, 140, PSY 205 – online
ANT 202, PSC 101, PSY 120 or PSY 211, SOC 104 - media-based

E. Humanities (H) and Fine Arts (F) - (9 hours)- min. one course from each category

HUM 122 (H/F) – online and media-based , EGL 129 (H) – media-based

F. Contemporary Global Studies

*Courses listed as satisfying general education requirements will transfer to Illinois colleges and universities participating in the Illinois Articulation Agreement (IAI), www.iai.org. The transferability of elective courses is dependent on college choice and major. It is advisable to check with specific transfer schools.
**IAI requires a grade of C or better.
