You are eligible for a placementest test waiver if...

    bullet image You can produce evidence of having earned a degree or at least 24 hours of college credit with a GPA of 2.0 or better at an accredited United States college or university.
    You have earned credit in a course equivalent to Oakton's EGL 101 and/or credit in a course equivalent to an Oakton college-level math course.
       

HOW TO APPLY FOR A PLACEMENT TEST WAIVER

    bullet image Go to Advising and Counseling in Room 1130 at the Des Plaines campus or Room A105 at the Ray Hartstein Campus.
    bullet image A staff member or counselor will help you fill out the appropriate forms.
    bullet image You must submit supporting evidence with your appeal. Such evidence may include, but is not limited to unofficial transcripts, copy of AA/S, BA/S or MA/S degree and or grade reports.
       

EXCEPTION: If you want to register for a course that requires a prerequisite placement test, you may still need to test even you have met the criteria to have the tests waived. FOR EXAMPLE ,

    bullet image If you want to take EGL 101 at Oakton, you must take the writing assessment test even if you have English credit from another college or university. Placement by test is the prerequisite for entry into EGL 101.
    bullet image If you want to take a mathematics course at Oakton, you can meet the prerequisite either by taking the math placement test or by presenting proof of previous credit in a college level math course to the math advisor for evaluation.
