ACADEMIC
ADVISING
An advisor will help you make choices and decisions about courses
and develop strategies for studying and managing your time.
Your advisor can also provide assistance with career planning and
personal concerns.
TUTORING
Individual and group tutoring is available to SSS TRiO students
free of charge. Many students make tutoring a part of their
weekly schedule. Individual, regular tutoring appointments
in math and other subjects can be specially arranged for TRiO students
by a TRiO advisor. |

TRANSFER
ASSISTANCE
Transfer assistance includes helping you explore options
at four-year schools, arranging visits to open houses, and completing
financial aid and college applications. SSS TRiO staff will
accompany you to meet admissions representatives and department
chairs at nearby institutions.
FINANCIAL
AID HELP
SSS TRiO staff help students complete financial aid forms
required for federal and state assistance. SSS TRiO will take
the mystery out of financial aid paperwork! For information
on financial aid click on ISAC.

a search for sources of free money for college.
CULTURAL
EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES
SSS TRiO sponsors trips to local theaters, museums and
musical events and even pays for your admission for Oakton Performing
Arts Center events. This is a great way to meet other students
and enhance learning outside of class time.

PEER
MENTORING PROGRAM
This program links new SSS TRiO students to
experienced students who provide support and help as the new student
faces the challenges of being in college for the first time. Check
out "Student Comments" for advice from
current students on how to succeed in college.
Laptop
and Calculator Loan Program
The
SSS TRiO Program offers free laptops and TI-83+ calculators to
SSS TRiO students on a temporary basis to assist with academic
needs. |
