Parents,
therapists, and teachers are invited to attend a conference focusing
on adolescent behavior disorders, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Friday, May
11, at Oakton Community College's Ray Hartstein Campus, 7701 N. Lincoln
Ave., Skokie.
Explore
a systems-based approach to treating teens who "act out" at "Adolescent
Conduct Disorders: A New Way of Viewing Behavioral Acting Out."
This conference emphasizes techniques from social learning, family
therapy, and cognitive therapy, and features Gary Hill, director of
clinical services at the Family Institute at Northwestern University.
Upon
completion of the workshop, participants will better understand how
to help the acting out child develop better coping skills; intervene
to reduce acting out behavior; and assist parents in developing skills
to create a more positive and deeper connection with their children.
The
cost of the conference is $110 and includes continental breakfast,
lunch, and handouts. Participants also may apply for continuing education
credits.
