Oakton Offers Courses for Homeowners Ready to Move

Oakton Community College makes buying or selling a home easy with consumer real estate courses offered by the Alliance for Lifelong Learning (ALL).

The Hidden Costs and Potential Horrors of Home Buying (REL E19-01, Touch-Tone 01832) reveals the "money pit"-type hazards of buying a home. Course also covers financing and insurance questions. The two-session class meets from 7 to 10 p.m., October 1 and October 8, at Maine West High School, 1755 S. Wolf Rd., Des Plaines. The course fee is $49.

From people relocating due to a new job, to empty-nesters and "sun birds" headed for smaller homes or warmer climates, What Every Seller Needs to Know Before Selling a Home (REL E17-01, Touch-Tone 01738) provides legal, financial, and other professional advice pertaining to anyone putting their house on the market. The class meets from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14 at Niles West High School, 5701 Oakton St., Skokie. The course fee is $20.

Students who have registered for ALL classes within the last five years, or for a credit course in the last three years, may register by using the Touch-Tone system at (847) 635-1616 or by fax at (847) 635-1448. Both methods require payment using a major credit card (Visa, MasterCard, or Discover). For a complete schedule of ALL classes, including information about registration and fees, visit www.oakton.edu/cont_ed or call (847) 982-9888, press 3.
