Oakton Continuing Ed Courses Focus on Food and Dance

Learn how to cook scrumptious meals or perform a variety of dances by enrolling in courses offered by the Alliance for Lifelong Learning at Oakton Community College. Courses are available evenings and weekends at various locations.

Cooking Around the World (HEC C26-02) reveals how to make tasty South American dishes. Handouts include recipes and suggested area restaurants and grocery stores. Four-week course meets Tuesday, 7 - 9 p.m., starting Oct. 30, at Evanston Township High School, 1600 E. Dodge Ave., Evanston. Course fee is $90.

Mad Hot Tango, Rumba, and Cha-Cha-Cha (PED D01-02) teaches how to perform popular dances seen on Dancing with the Stars. No prior dancing experience or partner is needed. Six-week course meets Wednesday, 7:30 - 8:30 p.m., starting Oct. 31, at Evanston Township High School. Course fee is $49.

Sizzling Salsa Dance: Marvelous Merengue, Cumbia, and Bachata (PED E88-04) demonstrates how to perform Salsa patterns. No prior dancing experience or partner is needed. Six-week course meets Wednesday, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m., starting Oct. 31, at Evanston Township High School. Course fee is $49.

Simple but Elegant French Meals (HEC E19-01) shows how to prepare easy and delicious three-course French dishes. Four-week course meets Thursday, 7 - 9 p.m., starting Nov. 1, at Maine East High School, 2601 Dempster St., Park Ridge. Course fee is $90.

Other available courses include: Ballet for Fun, Fitness, and Grace (PED B08-02), Symphonic Repertoire (MUS E37-02), Sizzling Salsa Dance (PED E88-02), and How to Sell Your House (REL E17-01).
