Enroll in Oakton Courses at Evanston Township High School
Enroll in continuing education courses at Evanston Township High School, 1600 Dodge Ave., Evanston, offered by the Alliance for Lifelong Learning at Oakton Community College.
Mosaics (ART C61-31) shows how to craft beautiful mosaic designs from diverse materials, such as ceramic tile, stone, glass, and marbles. Students are asked to bring tile nippers and an item to mosaic, such as a 10-inch clay flower pot or other item with a rigid surface. Three-week course meets 7 – 9:30 p.m., Thursday, starting June 11. Course fee is $150.
Drumming Circle Lessons (MUS B52-31) demonstrates playing techniques for a variety of percussion instruments. Six-week course meets 7 – 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, starting June 16. Course fee is $97.
Mozart’s Women (MUS B23-31) examines how the women in Mozart’s life, including his mother, wife, and students, influenced his emotional and artistic sensibilities. Two-week course meets 7 – 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, starting June 16. Course fee is $43.
Writing Children’s Books (COM M02-31) explores children’s literature through character, plot, description, and setting. Emphasis will be placed on getting published. Six-week course meets 6:30 – 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, starting June 16. Course fee is $132.
Brain Foods: Nourishing Your Noggin (HEA C08-31) teaches how nutrition can prevent or treat brain-related illnesses. Learn how food is related to memory and information processing. One-week course meets 6:30 – 8 p.m., Thursday, starting June 18. Course fee is $22.
