Shed
some pounds or tone up this fall by enrolling in classes offered by
the Alliance for Lifelong Learning at Oakton Community College. The
following courses meet at the Prairie View Community Center, 6834
Dempster St., Morton Grove.
Spinning
(PED C42-06) is a high-energy class where students ride a stationary
bike at their own pace for a great cardiovascular workout. Bring a
small towel and water bottle to class. Five-week course meets Thursdays,
7:15 - 8:05 p.m., starting Nov. 18. Course fee is $60.
Pilates
(PED EO4-03, PED C43-03) is a method of exercise designed to stretch,
strengthen, and balance the body. Benefits include improved lung capacity,
circulation, and coordination. Beginner and intermediate courses are
offered. Beginning Pilates meets Tuesdays, 7:30 - 8:30 p.m., starting
Nov. 15 for five weeks. Course fee is $53. Intermediate Pilates meets
Fridays, 5:30 - 6:30 p.m., starting Nov. 18 for five weeks. Course
fee is $53.
Yoga
(PED S10-05) allows students to develop strength, flexibility, stamina,
and better concentration through relaxation exercises. Bring a pillow
and towel for use on the mat. Five-week course meets Saturdays, 8:45
- 9:45 a.m., starting Nov. 19. Course fee is $53.
